KAUNO BŪSTAI MISLED CONSUMERS BY ADVERTISING GUEST HOUSES AS APARTMENTS

The firm Kauno būstai misled consumers by advertising guest houses as apartments. For the infringement of the Law on Advertising Kauno būstai received EUR 6,300 fine.

During the investigation the Council found that from September 2016 to February 2017 advertised non-residential premises as residential real estate. Such conduct by the firm might have negatively affected consumers’ financial state and life quality or resulted in any other damages.

Kauno būstai disseminated misleading advertising claims about the purpose of real estate that was being sold. Instead of apartments consumers were offered to buy non-residential premises, namely guest houses and recreation premises or a part of them. Since the firm cannot change the purpose of the premises, having acquired them, consumers could not use these premises as residential.
