THE 2023 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL WAS PRESENTED
Chairwoman of the Competition Council, Jolanta Ivanauskienė, presenting the 2023 Annual Report at an interinstitutional meeting in the Government this week, overviewed the main results achieved by the institution in the past year and answered questions.
Konkurencijos taryba found that UAB Palink , one of the major retail companies in Lithuania, infringed the Law on the Prohibition of Unfair Practices of Retailers (Law) when it required from 7 food and drink suppliers to spend all of their preliminary budget intended for sales promotion activities.
Konkurencijos taryba found that the company Neste Lietuva infringed the Law on Advertising by spreading misleading advertising claims about Neste fuel. The company was fined EUR 8,688.
Konkurencijos taryba found that the company Maxima LT infringed the Law on the Prohibition of Unfair Practices of Retailers (Law) by setting requirement for food and drink suppliers to pay fees for sales promotion, and by envisaging fines or compensation for failure to comply with the set obligations.
Konkurencijos taryba found that Norfos mažmena and Rivona infringed the Law on the Prohibition of Unfair Practices of Retailers (Law) by setting requirement for the suppliers to pay fees for sales promotion.
On July 18 the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed Elonas Šatas as Council Member of the Competition Council for the second six-year term starting on 24 August 2017.
Chief Experts of Unfair Commercial Practices Investigation Division shared the Competition Council‘s experience on misleading and prohibited comparative advertising with the Albanian Consumer Protection Commission.
